DIGITAL JOURNAL Thursday, April 30, 2009 THE VENUS PROJECT: BEYOND POVERTY, POLITICS, AND WAR by Matt Dehekker Fresco believes he has the ideas and plans that can ultimately eliminate poverty, politics, and war through the depletion of the monetary system, and by focusing more on our technology, and technological advances. Jacque Fresco is a man with a vision - A vision of a world without poverty, politics, or war with the focus of human social and economic advances focused and driven by technology. According to Fresco we have the technology to create whatever destiny we choose, “We have the technology to build a global paradise on earth, and at the same time we have the power to end life as we know it.” but, it is up to us. Mr Fresco has spent his entire life dedicated to changing anything he could for the better. Even at a young age, Fresco saw things completely different than most others around him. When Fresco was only 13, he saw his uncle accidentally put his hand on a metal fan while it was on, breaking his hand. Fresco sat backed and thought, “How could this have easily been avoided?” and soon came up with a rubber and fabric blade design which he submitted to major fan manufacturing companies who showed absolutely no interest and gave no thanks. Soon after Fresco noticed fans with the same rubber blades he designed. Since then Fresco has become an inventor, social engineer, author, futurist, and creator of The Venus Project. Living through The Great Depression, WWII, and many other evolutionary events has sculpted Fresco into a man who wants to see the world change for the better. Now at the age of 93 Frescos’ fixation is on the world. Fresco believes he has the ideas and plans that can ultimately eliminate poverty, politics, and war through the depletion of the monetary system, and by focusing more on our technology, and technological advances. When asked how this could be possible Fresco responded “My entire life’s work and alternative social design are all about solutions to these problems (Poverty, politics, and war). It is not just patch work to paper over the problems we face, but I have always worked on proposals to eliminate the conditions responsible for these problems in the first place. To properly answer this question would take volumes. I can only recommend my book The Best That Money Can’t Buy. Albert Einstein once said, ‘We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.’” So far The Venus Project has gotten a multitude of attention from various types of people from various places around the world. Movies have been put out, articles have been written, and speeches have been held all with the extermination of the monetary system and political systems in mind, inspired by The Venus Project. As of now The Venus Project has hundreds of thousands of followers and other organizations, such as The Zeitgeist Movement, spreading the word.
