FUTURISTS MEET IN ISTANBUL

ISTANBUL - Turkey’s first Futurist’s Summit took place at the Lütfi Kırdar International Congress Hall Friday. Jacque Fresco, the world-renown futurist was the highlight of the event, with a presentation of a critique of present models as well as a vision for the future.

Fresco contends the problems we face today are not a result of politics or economics but rather are technical failures of the current order.

"I think the monetary system is on its way out," said Fresco. He described the monetary system as being harmful for progress because it encourages bad behavior at the expense of harmonious living. The example he gave to the audience, which was mainly comprised of young corporate employees and students, was the drug problem."
